Smart Money: Congress and insiders
Use real disclosures from informed participants to cross-check your Flow and GEX analysis.
Two tabs are available: Insiders and Congress.
Insiders (company executives and directors)
Shows stock transactions by company executives and directors: ticker (with sector), reporting person (with director/executive role), type, shares, average price, and filing date. Search by ticker is supported.
| Type | Meaning | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Open-market purchase | An executive or director uses personal funds to buy shares in the secondary market | Bullish signal; usually the most informative type |
| Open-market sale | Shares sold in the secondary market | Interpret cautiously—many are routine monetization and not necessarily bearish |
| Equity award | Equity compensation granted by the company is received | Neutral to moderately bullish |
| Option exercise | Previously granted options are exercised | Neutral to moderately bullish |
Insider sales are far more common than purchases because of compensation structures, so purchases carry much more information than sales. Pay particular attention when several executives buy within the same time window.
Congress (member trade disclosures)
Shows stock trades disclosed by members of the U.S. Congress: member (labeled senator or representative), asset, action (purchase, sale, exchange, or receipt), amount, transaction date, and filing date. Search by ticker is supported, and "Stocks only" filters out funds, bonds, and other asset types.
Congressional filings commonly lag the actual transaction date by several weeks to more than a month. This is a legally permitted disclosure delay, not missing data.
